Abhishek Naskar is a joint doctoral research scholar at IITB Monash Research Academy, working in the field of 2D nanomaterial-based polymer nanocomposites. He is working under Prof. Arup R. Bhattacharyya (IIT Bombay), Prof. Matthieu Gresil, and Prof. Terry Turney ( Monash University). His research focuses on the effects of 2D nanomaterials on the mechanical, rheological, and morphological characteristics of the post-drawn nanocomposite films, thus developing modern devices and corresponding advanced applications with a particular focus on flexible and piezoelectric usages. With origins in the culturally diverse city of Kolkata, Abhishek was born and raised in the vibrant capital of New Delhi, where he completed his schooling and possesses a distinct combination of artistic heritage and cosmopolitan flare. He pursued his career in the basic sciences after moving to Kolkata, thus obtaining a bachelors degree in Physics (Honours) from Vijaygarh Jyotish Ray College (Univeristy of Calcutta) and has completed his masters degree in the domain of physics with a specialization in advanced condensed matter and materials science from Ramakrishna Mission Residential College (Autonomous), University of Calcutta, wherein he had a short stint with solar cells. He completed his masters thesis on novel 2D hybrid/ternary nanocomposites and continued working on photocatalytic and gas sensing materials in the Quantum Materials and Devices Unit at the Institute of Nano Science and Technology (INST), Mohali, DST, before joining the Academy. Apart from research and academics, Abhishek enjoys listening to music, singing, having an interest in sports, loves travelling and exploring new places.
