Minhajul Islam

Minhajul Islam, PhD student at IITB-Monash Academy since July 2022, was born and brought up at Chittaranjan, West Bengal. He received his Bachelor’s and Masters’ degree from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. His academic achievements include being a KVPY fellow, securing a rank of 1925 in JEE Advanced, clearing GATE and Joint CSIR-UGC NET exams in Chemistry, and being a PMRF fellow. His interest in asymmetric catalysis as well as new methodology development led him to pursue a joint PhD program at Monash University and IIT Bombay, where he is currently working on the topic of "Directing group assisted alkane synthesis leading to liquid fuel formation" under the guidance of Prof. Debabrata Maiti (IIT Bombay) and Prof. David Lupton (Monash University). He also has keen interest in developing new chiral ligands for asymmetric C-H activation.
