Lydia Mathew completed her Bachelors in Biotechnology from Ramniranjan Jhunjhunwala College and further went on to pursue her Masters in Biotechnology from St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai, India. She joined as a IITB-Monash Joint PhD student to pursue her research on “Biophysical characterization of mycobacterial membranes: Towards understanding membrane-centric host-pathogen interactions and for drug screening applications” under the supervision of Prof. Shobhna Kapoor from IIT Bombay and Prof. Mibel Aguilar and Dr. John Lee from Monash University. She has been a part of the collaborative undergraduate research project during her bachelors in Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education under TIFR, Mumbai and then continued to guide and mentor students in the research there. She did her master's dissertation from IIT Bombay and that's when she was driven with curiosity to do more science and then became passionate and dedicated to do research. This immense desire to do research is what brought her here to pursue PhD. Besides these, she loves sports, travelling, reading, singing and listening to songs! Socialising and collaborating is something that she always cherishes.
