Harpreet Kaur

Harpreet Kaur is a biotechnologist by education and had joined IITB-Monash Research Academy in the July 2021 intake. She hails from Jodhpur, Rajasthan, and finished her master’s degree from Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. She is driven toward applied sciences, which made her choose nanotechnology as her broad area of research for her Ph.D. During her master’s, she carried out a mini project on “Assessment of Saccharomyces cerevisiae for inhibitor tolerance and glucose fermentation to produce lignocellulosic bioethanol” at a yeast biofuel lab at ICGEB, New Delhi. She actively participated in hands-on training workshops on “Industrial biotechnology” and “Science communication” seminars. During her tenure at IITB-Monash Research Academy, she will be developing “Hybrid lipid-protein based nano-drug delivery systems” under the supervision of Prof. Nand Kishore (IIT Bombay) and Dr. Leonie van’t Hag (Monash University). She pays attention to details in her work and is a stickler for perfection. Besides academic pursuits, Harpreet is an extreme zoophilist and has a soft spot for cats and elephants. She enjoys traveling, gymming, and trekking.
