Aishi Dasgupta completed her Bachelor’s in Life Sciences (Honours) from Presidency University, Kolkata. She went on to pursue Master’s in Biotechnology from IIT Bombay, India after completing an internship at IISER Thiruvananthapuram during her BSc. She was selected for the summer research internship by Indian Academy of Sciences (IAS) and JNCASR Summer Research Fellowship Programme (SRFP) during MSc. She is currently an IITB-Monash Joint PhD student who is conducting research on “An Antiviral Drug Target and Screening Platform for Anti-COVID Therapeutics” under the supervision of Prof. Shobhna Kapoor (IIT Bombay), Prof. Mibel Aguilar (Monash University) and Dr. John Lee (Monash University). Her scientific goals resonate with her identity such that she aspires to make healthcare affordable to people with limited amenities not only in her country but all over the world. Her primary goal is to contribute to the prevalent healthcare strategies while making science more accessible and affordable to the general public. While her main aim is to contribute to meaningful research, the other thing that she is truly passionate about is science communication. She aims to contribute to the proper dissemination of scientific information to the general public. Her leisure time is mostly devoted to reading, writing and singing. She has seen her writing evolve from being published on school boards to now magazines and websites. Singing is very therapeutic for her and she is a trained singer.
