Bio:
I am Sayem Irshad, a geoscientist with a keen interest in energy resource optimization. After earning my M.Sc. in Applied Geology from Aligarh Muslim University in 2021, I joined IIT Bombay in 2024 as a Project Junior Research Fellow, where I focused on energy-related research challenges. In 2025, I began my Ph.D. at the IITB-Monash Research Academy, where my research is centered on Enhanced Coal Bed Methane (ECBM) recovery.
Project Details:
I am currently engaged in research on Enhanced Coal Bed Methane (ECBM) Recovery, a critical area in sustainable energy development. My work focuses on optimizing gas extraction from coal seams by exploring advanced techniques such as CO2 and N2 injection, while addressing the geomechanical and reservoir challenges that influence gas production efficiency. With a strong emphasis on energy transition, my research aims to improve methane recovery rates, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and contribute to cleaner, more efficient utilization of unconventional gas resources.
In my leisure time, I enjoy playing table tennis and cricket, which help me stay active and focused. I also value spending quality time with my family and friends.
