Project Title: Spin orbit torques using 2D materials and heterostructures

Short Bio and Project Details:

Nidhi Khatri joined the IITB Monash Research Academy under the supervision of Prof. Ashwin Tulapurkar (IIT Bombay) and Prof. Julie Karel (Monash University). Her PhD research focuses on spin orbit torques using 2D materials and heterostructures, with the aim of developing materials with high spin orbit torque efficiency for energy-efficient next-generation electronic and spintronic devices. Her research involves the synthesis and characterisation of 2D materials, device fabrication, magnetotransport measurements, and spin orbit torque efficiency measurements.

Nidhi holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Banasthali University and a Master of Science in Physics. Her academic journey from mathematics to physics has shaped her interest in understanding complex physical phenomena through both analytical and experimental approaches. During her Master of Science, she worked on a research project involving the synthesis and characterisation of two-dimensional materials, particularly MoS2. This experience introduced her to experimental research in nanomaterials and sparked her interest in exploring their unique properties and potential applications in next-generation technologies.

Outside academia, Nidhi enjoys reading, swimming, and taking long walks in nature.
