Umar Maqbool hails from the picturesque town of Baramulla, Kashmir, India. He completed his B. Tech in Electrical and Renewable Energy Engineering and his M. Tech in Renewable Energy Engineering. Umar's professional journey has taken him from the Centre for Energy Regulation and Energy Analytics Lab at IIT Kanpur, where he worked as a Project Engineer, to the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission as a Staff Consultant. He has the honour of collaborating with Prof. Trupti Mishra at IIT Bombay, Prof. Roger Dargaville and Dr Tom Hughes at Monash University. Umar's research focuses on the critical "Assessment of Hydrogen Generation Technologies in India: Implications for Energy Transition." He is passionate about exploring the environmental impact of hydrogen as an energy system within the decarbonization pathway and its sustainability and socio-economic implications. Outside the lab, Umar's life is infused with vibrant passions. He lives and breathes cricket, finds solace in trekking through nature's wonders, and immerses himself in the rich tapestry of history and Urdu poetry. These pursuits enrich his life and balance his scientific endeavours harmoniously.
