Ankush De is a Ph.D. scholar at the IIT Bombay Monash Research Academy, primarily focusing on aqueous based electrolytes for high-energy aqueous rechargeable Zinc-manganese dioxide (Zn-MnO2) batteries. His research is supervised by Prof. Sagar Mitra at IIT Bombay, and Prof. Mainak Majumder and Dr. Manas Ranjan Panda at Monash University. His work aims to identify the major problems in aqueous zinc ion batteries such as dendritic growth, low voltage window and passivation reactions and modify the electrolyte to design a safe and stable robust system for post lithium alternative high energy batteries along with cost-effective energy storage. He holds a BSc in Chemistry from Midnapore College Autonomous, West Bengal and completed his MSc from IIT Hyderabad in Chemistry. He did his master’s thesis work on ‘Fabrication of Electrochromic Device by synthesizing Viologen Compounds’. Apart from academics he is interested in reading novels, watching anime, playing guitar and exploring new places.
