Tanya Bansal

Tanya Bansal joined the IITB-Monash Research Academy as a PhD scholar in July 2023. As a DST-Inspire fellow, she is conducting research under the guidance of Prof. Kiran Kondabagil and Prof. Santanu K. Ghosh at IIT Bombay along with Prof. Gregory Moseley at Monash University. Her research aims to unravel the complexities of giant viruses and their interactions with host cells using advanced super-resolution microscopy techniques. Previously, she worked as a research fellow at IIT Kanpur, studying about bat influenza viruses. Tanya holds a Master's degree in Biochemistry, graduating as a gold medalist from the Central University of Punjab, and earned her Bachelor's degree from Maharshi Dayanand University. Her master's thesis led to a publication in a prestigious journal, detailing the discovery of natural inhibitors from Aloevera and Neem plants against SARS-CoV-2 proteins. Outside of her academic and research endeavors, she enjoys reading novels, exploring new places, traveling, and is an avid foodie!
