Amar Jagan is a Ph.D. scholar at the IIT Bombay Monash Research Academy, focusing on the protection of electrical power systems with 100% inverter-based resources. His research, supervised by Prof. Zakir Hussain Rather and Prof. Sooryanarayana Doolla at IIT Bombay, alongside Prof. Reza Razzaghi at Monash University, investigates the effects of large-scale integration of renewable energy based power plants on existing power system protection schemes. His work aims to identify necessary modifications or create new, robust protection systems to facilitate seamless integration of renewable energy based power plants. He holds a BTech in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the Government College of Engineering Kannur, Kerala, where he also served as the volunteer secretary for the National Service Scheme. He completed his MTech at the National Institute of Technology Rourkela, specializing in power systems engineering. Before embarking on his Ph.D. journey, Amar worked as a junior research fellow at Indian Institute of Technology BHU Varanasi, focusing on cyber-resilient protection schemes for AC microgrids. Outside of his academic pursuits, Amar enjoys playing badminton and reading books.
