Student Details

I am Mukul Akolkar, a joint PhD program student at the IITB-Monash Research Academy, where I joined in July 2022. I completed my B.Tech. in Production Engineering from S.G.G.S. Institute of Engineering & Technology, Nanded in 2020. During my B.Tech. project I was an intern in the Mechanical Engineering Department at IIT Bombay, under Prof. Suhas Joshi. This project work has been published in the AIMTDR 2021 international conference. I have also cleared the GATE examination in 2020. Thereafter, I worked as a DRDO-CAIR Junior Research Fellow at IIT Kharagpur and as an apprentice in a manufacturing industry in Maharashtra, before joining the Academy as a PhD student. At the Academy, my project is IMURA1031: ‘Machine Learning in Additive Manufacturing’, supported by Ansys Inc. My supervisors are Prof. Shivasubramanian Gopalakrishnan from Mechanical Engineering, IIT Bombay and Prof. Wenyi Yan from Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering, Monash University.
