Pankaj Chetry has completed his B.Tech in Instrumentation Engineering from Central Institute of Technology Kokrajhar in June 2015, during which he went for industrial training at North-East Coal Field Margareta, Cement Corporation of India Limited Bokajan and MSME Kolkata, which helped him in bridging the gap between his coursework theories and their practical implementations. He completed his M.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering from IIT(ISM) Dhanbad in June 2018. During M.Tech he worked on Bandgap analysis of 2D photonic crystal and effect of deformation on it. He developed a keen interest in research during M.Tech and wanted to pursue a career in this field. He joined as a Ph.D. scholar at IIT-B Monash Research Academy in July 2019 under the guidance of Prof. Jordan Nash (Monash University), Prof. Pradeep Sarin (IIT Bombay), and Prof. Ulrik Edege (Monash University). He will start his research on project titled "Development of wide bandgap semiconductor materials as novel protons monitors for comet experiment at J-PARC”. Apart from academics, he enjoys physical activities like swimming, running, boxing, and practicing yoga.
