Debendra Tewary is a passionate researcher hailing from the picturesque village of Maliara in West Bengal. His journey into the world of chemistry began during his school days at DAV, where his curiosity for the subject was first ignited. After completing his bachelor's degree in chemistry from BHU, Debendra embarked on an academic adventure that took him to the vibrant city of Mumbai. He pursued his master's degree at ICT Mumbai and used the opportunity to gain practical experience through internships at prestigious institutions like IISER Kolkata, CSIR-NEIST Jorhat and CECRI-Karaikudi. These experiences not only enriched his knowledge but also set him on the path to a promising research career in chemistry. Before joining the IITB Monash Research Academy, Debendra honed his research skills as a project student at IIT Bombay. Along this educational journey, he found a guiding light in his mentor, Dr. Sanghamitra Chatterjee at ICT Mumbai. Currently, Debendra is deeply engrossed in his research project, "Fluorescence sensing of nitroaromatics & explosives," under the joint supervision of Prof. M. Ravikanth at IIT Bombay and Prof. David Turner at Monash University. His dedication to this fascinating area of study reflects his commitment to making valuable contributions to the field of chemistry. Outside the lab, Debendra is a multifaceted individual with diverse interests. He enjoys the strategic challenges of chess, the excitement of cricket, and the artistry of photography.
