Sujata had an everlasting interest in biology during high school days. Keeping such motivations in mind, she took up Biotechnology during her under graduation from School of Biotechnology, Baramati, Pune University. She got an opportunity to work on her first research project entitled “Screening and Characterization of Novel Bacteriocins from Lactic Acid Bacteria”. In her bachelor’s programme she learned to appreciate the scope that biology offers in terms of discovering something useful for the society, if only the right questions are being asked. She completed her MSc. In Biotechnology from IIT Bombay in year 2017. During the course of her higher studies she has also qualification national level entrance exams such as CSIR-NET-JRF, GATE and ICMR. Her dissertation topic was “Metabolomic Profiling for Identifying Key Alterations in Meningioma Patients”. She has published two conference papers during one year of dissertation project in Indian Society of Neuro-oncology and American Society of Mass Spectrometry conferences. She is currently enrolled at the IITB-Monash research academy for the project entitled “The novel nuclear transport molecule importing from Plasmodium falciparum; potential drug target” under the supervision of Dr. Swati Patankar (IITB) and Dr. David Jans (Monash University). This project addresses an early stage of drug discovery for a globally prevalent infectious diseases.
