Kushal completed his Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering from CET (Govt.) Bhubaneswar (2007-11) and Master's in Metallurgical Engineering and Material Science from IIT Bombay (2015-17). He has worked for a period of 4.5 years in a heavy steel industry. His industrial experience include hot rolling of steel plates, mechanical machinery maintenance and continuous casting. Before joining IITB-Monash Research Academy he was associated with IIT Bombay as a Jr. Research Fellow for a period of six months working on the mechanical behaviour of perovskite based photovoltaics funded by DST. His Master's thesis was dedicated to the development of nanostructured steel for high strength and high toughness applications and a section of his thesis has been published in MSEA. He would be working on ‘Microstructure-property relationships of conductive polymers and substrates for organic solar cells’ under the supervision of Prof. Aparna Singh (IIT Bombay) and Dr. Laurence Brassart (Monash University). He enjoys playing cricket and football."
