He completed his BT-MT dual degree from IIT Kanpur in Mechanical Engineering. His Master’s thesis was “Process Parameters Optimization in Wire Feed Metal and Polymer based Additive Manufacturing” which involved mathematical modelling and experimental work both. Also, during his stay in Kanpur, Ravi was actively involved in RuTAG and its associated club activities and was able to file a patent on one of his projects. Working on these projects gave him good hands on experience of various machine tools and getting staunch collaboration with different labs. Later he joined Indian Oil Corporation Limited and worked there for more than two years and three months. This job gave him chance to work in one of the most modern Refineries where he earned in field experience of commissioning activities of Polypropylene Plant, shutdown activities of columns, general maintenance and planning related jobs of mechanical equipment. Having gained vast industrial experience, Ravi got chance to advance his master's work in Additive Manufacturing field as a PhD researcher at IITB-Monash Research Academy. His project is titled “Scanning Path Optimization in Selective Laser Melting of Ti6Al4V for Aerospace Applications”. He will be guided by Prof. Deepak Marla from IIT Bombay as well as by Prof. Aijun Huang from Monash University.
