Balamurali A R completed his B.Tech in Information technology from the National Institute of Technology, Allahabad. Soon after graduating, he joined one of the top software companies in India based at Chennai as a developer. Over the next 3 year period, he worked on various technologies and has been part of many successful project endeavours. He joined The IITB-Monash Research Academy to solve frontline problems faced in computer science. His guides are Dr Pushpak Bhattacharyya and Dr Ingrid Zuckerman. Jubina Balan
Jubina Balan graduated from Mumbai University with a major in Biotechnology and attained her M Tech in Biotechnology from Dr.D.Y .Patil University. She has worked at Bhabha Atomic Research Centre-Mumbai on the production of anti-cancerous compounds from Psoralea corlifolia using hairy root and callus culture. She also worked at the Centre for Genetic Research & Diagnostic Laboratory, M.G.M Hospital gaining experience in: -Human Cell& Tissue Culture Techniques, Karyotyping, FISH, Estimation of Abnormalities in Human Peripheral Blood, lymphocytes invitro and Human Syndromes. Together with Dr Paul Verma and Dr Huseyin Sumer (from Monash) and Prof Dulal Panda from IITB, she is working on the project “Generation and characterization of induced pluripotent cells (iPSCs) and studying checkpoint mechanism in human somatic cells and iPSCs”.

Rupesh S Bobade
Rupesh S Bobade has completed ME from BITS Pilani and BE from Amravati University in Mechanical Engineering. Soon after masters, he has joined Knorr-Bremse of TATA Autocomps Group in Pune. He has worked there in R&D for almost one & half years. Due to research background and work, he has got motivated towards PhD. Here at IITB-Monash Research Academy, he will be working on Project Titled “Dynamics and Control of Parallel Robotic Manipulator with End Effector Constrains” under the guidance of Prof P S Gandhi (IITB) and Prof Chen Chao (Monash University).

Edmund Carvalho completed his M.Sc in Biochemistry from Pune University. Rimi Chakrabarti
Rimi has a mix of diverse academic backgrounds – she is an undergraduate degree in Zoology (Calcutta University) and completed a graduate degree in Biotechnology (Bangalore University). She worked as a trainee in a blood bank and as a microbiologist in a biotech firm before joining The Academy. Together with Prof Ross L. Coppel, Prof Brian M. Cooke, Dr Swati Patankar and Prof Dulal Panda she is working on a project that looks deep into the arrangement of Apicomplexan tubulin with a broad objective of developing novel, efficient chemotherapeutic agents. Besides being an avid reader, Rimi is a novice painter - her medium being glass.

Jas Chawla
Jas Chawla completed his Dual Degree in Mechanical Engineering (B.Tech and M.Tech) from IIT Bombay in 2006. He worked with Prof. Shashikanth Suryanarayanan on Vehicle Dynamics for his Masters Thesis. Since graduating he's worked in a Data Analytics firm, researched in IITB with Prof. Shashikanth Suryanarayanan on Robotics and worked in an Engineering Services company. His work at the IITB-Monash Academy would be on 'Small Wind Energy' and he'll work with Prof Shashikanth Suryanarayanan from IITB and Prof Brian Falzon from Monash University. Siddharth Gadkari
Siddharth is a B. Tech in Chemical Engineering from Nagpur University and an M.S in Biomedical Engineering from Drexel University. Alongside his M.S coursework he was involved in research on drug and viral delivery using biodegradable hydrogels. This exposure has motivated him to enroll for a PhD program at The IITb-Monash Research Academy. Kamal Kumar Murari
Kamal has completed his Masters in Water Resources Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. After completing his post graduation, he worked in TERI (The Energy and Resources Institute) for over 3.5 years and Center for International Projects, Columbia Water Center India for about a year. In IITB-Monash Research Academy, he is working with Dr Subimal Ghosh and Dr Eduardo Daly. His research topic is “Impact of Climate Vulnerability and Climate Change on Water Availability at a River Basin Scale”, aiming at development of an integrated eco-hydro-climatological model for assessing the impact of global climate changes on soil moisture and vegetation.

Ajay Nagesh
Ajay has graduated with a M.Tech. in Computer Science from IIT Bombay. He holds a Bachelor's degree in the same area from R.V. College of Engineering, Bangalore. After his Masters he had a brief stint as a software engineer at Citrix Systems. His areas of interest lie at the intersection of natural language processing and machine learning. His research work is focused on Learning for Semantic Parsing and is under the guidance of Prof Pushpak Bhattacharyya, Prof Ganesh Ramakrishnan and Prof Geoff Webb. Naveen started his career as Jr Health Inspector in Kerala Government Health Services. Akash Nigam
Akash has done his B.Tech in Information and Communication Technology from DA-IICT Gandhinagar in 2008. He did his B.Tech project at IIT Delhi and worked as Research Fellow at IIT-Bombay before joining the Academy for PhD in Dec 2009. He will be working at the Academy with Prof Ramgopal Rao (IIT Bombay) and Prof Malin Premaratne (Monash) for studying the "Transport in novel Semiconductor devices". Ganesh Soni
Ganesh completed his BE in Mechanical Engineering from Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (now, NIT), Nagpur. Soon after graduating, he started to work as a Design Engineer in L&T, Mumbai, and developed many designs of rubber and plastic components. Vikram Vishal graduated from Presidency College, Kolkata and did his M.Sc. in Applied Geology at IIT Bombay. He remained associated with Shell Oil, Malaysia, CIMFR, Dhanbad as intern and Tata Steel as Manager (Geology) and currently, Joint Secy. of Int. J. of Earth Sc. and Engg.
